The Refiner’s Fire

BTCLehi

Who ARE you, and why should I care?

You’re hot stuff, right?  Maybe you’re the next big thing everyone’s talking about, or so you perceive.  Take a good look at yourself. Don’t do it from your eyes.  Get outside the bottle.

Whether you like it or not, you’re not always right.  It takes looking at your position from the view of your opposition to see where your faults lie.

Go ahead and earnestly argue with yourself.  You’ll be surprised at what you learn.

Expose yourself to the refiner’s fire and let your peers criticize you.  If it’s too hot for you, maybe you weren’t the hot stuff you thought you were.  If you survive, you will become much stronger.

If you take this approach, it will work in your favor.  If you want to be THE expert, this is how you rise to the top.  This is also how peer review works. Critical eyes burn all to remove the dross.  You are left with only strong material.

Expose yourself to the refiner’s fire, unless you’re chicken.

Where would you recommend starting? What is the best refiners fire for those of us that don’t know?

I’m glad you ask that question. I get more into that in my newest post which will air today.

Rather than argue with myself, I think it’s really important to ask questions of self and be willing to ask them honestly. Being in the fire is where we grow!!

    I like what you wrote,

several years ago in a course I took, I had to contact 10 people who knew me well,

and my assignment was to ask them to honestly critique me. I was nervous to ask, afraid of what might be said. expecting the worst.

But was so surprised at the positive feed back,

I know I am way harder on myself than others are on me. I mostly think of the refiner as the Big guy,

I like it, Lehi. I suspect not many are up for the challenge but those who are will certainly be better for it.
